ABOUT ENTERTRAINERS

The enterTrainers was established in 1990 and its Director, Barbara Lisicki, has worked in the field of disability, equality and diversity for over 20 years. She is a practising trainer and consultant, qualified to the eyeballs, (BA Hons, Cert Ed. FE. a graduate of the Common Purpose London programme, bursary from the Leadership Consortium) with a client portfolio that includes the BBC, British Film Institute, Arts Council England, Royal Albert Hall, National Children’s Bureau, Connexions, several local authorities, NHS Primary Care Trusts and housing associations, the Big Lottery Fund and Asda Stores Ltd.

With a background in teaching, youth work and policy development and review, Barbara has guided many organisations through the diversity and disability mazes and supported their constructive growth.

She was the first disabled woman stand up comic in Britain. Alongside other performance artists she formed the ‘Tragic but Brave Show’ a touring company that uncompromisingly entertained, provoked and challenged audiences across Europe and the USA and helped to put disabled artists on the mainstream map.

She is also quite funny.

Barbara has extensive training experience, with the ability to adapt and personalise courses to customers’ specific requirements.

She has undertaken work as diverse as designing and delivering an accessible 10 day management training module to People First, an organisation of people with learning difficulties, at one end of the spectrum, to working with customer service managers in the retail sector to build skills and confidence in rolling out disability and access training to shop floor staff, at the other. Capacity building is a keystone of the work and she believes that by facilitating skills improvement and giving constructive support, organisations can move in positive directions to develop their staff teams and their services.

Her policy development and review experience is extensive. Employed as a principal policy adviser on disability for a London Council for six years, Barbara worked at Director and Member level as well as with staff, community and voluntary groups. She has undertaken strategic reviews, research and development work with Birmingham and Bristol City councils in the last few years, on themes of regeneration, healthy cities, independent living options and most recently (2007) with a housing association to turn around problems of race and disability discrimination.

Barbara’s company, enterTrainers Ltd, has a great team who can offer a range of skills, expertise and experience with delivery capability that is customised to client specification.

Barbara has been working regularly with a number of companies for several years.  Encouraged by evaluation comments, such as…

·        ’excellent course – learned tons today’

·        ‘very good training session. A potentially dull subject delivered in an excellent interactive style, resulting in full participation and achievement of learning objectives’

·        ‘Thanks for an enjoyable day’s training delivered with humour’

·        ‘I liked the way in which the obviously knowledgeable trainer allowed others to speak freely and didn’t impose her feelings and beliefs…the trainer was passionate about her subject and this was communicated in a most sensitive way…good use of humour’

…she keeps coming back, and they keep having her...

Barbara’s world view is optimistic, believing that companies and organisations can learn and change with informed and skilled input.  She also likes people, an attribute which helps with training, group work, strategic development and review….and, frankly, life.
